Northern Region Autumn Rally Ballycastle/Rathlin 28-31 Aug 2026
I hope all travel and cruising plans have come to fruition and you are enjoying the delights of our own and foreign coastlines during this summer season. My own cruising plans have been somewhat reduced after my father suffered a fractured hip over easter. Thankfully, at the brave age of 98, he is now recovering at home. I had to pull out of the Norway trip with Rob on Maria and my aims for a tour of the North on Wild Cat are now more limited. So we have decided to meet for the autumn rally at the end of August in Rathlin/ Ballycastle. I hope that will encourage boats from both north and east of the region to make the passage. Ballycastle Marina cannot save berths for us but they will try to accomodate us depending on numbers. Rathlin has plenty of capacity. It is a bank holiday weekend but the traditional Lammas Fair has been moved to the Mon/Tues before (24/25) so that it doesn't run into September, which will reduce the pressures on berths & accommodations etc. The ferry service is good and free if you have a smartpass. Members unable to come by boat will be very welcome to join for a walk and picnic on shore. Rathlin is an enchanting island and will be a great location to round of the summer cruising season.
Proposed itinerary Fri 28 - Muster Ballycastle - informal evening in welcoming local hostelry. Sat 29 - Cruise to Rathlin - Supper in Manor House if available - (There is a big charity run on Rathlin on Sat so it will be busy with runners and visitors).Sun 30 - Walk & Picnic on shore Mon 31 - Depart
